Wolfgang T., ambulance nurse by profession in Vienna, recently became a father for the third time in no time. Incidentally, he helped his daughter into the world himself. Laura was in a real hurry and was born at home.
At around 6:30 a.m. on November 19, the father of the family was awakened by his wife. She’s already having contractions. “I think it’s about to start,” said the 39-year-old — and she was right. “icI took my wife to the living room and laid her on the couch. Then I quickly rang the doorbell at the neighbors so that they could take care of our two sons,” says the paramedic of the Viennese professional rescue service. “When I came back, I already saw the baby’s head.”
Just ten minutes after his wife woke him up, five of the family were there. At 6:40 am, little Laura cried for the first time, they say. The alerted rescue teams arrived a little later and took care of the mother and child.
“Of course we learn how to act during childbirth. During the internship and also during the assignment I gave birth to five children. Bringing my own daughter into the world made me a little nervous,” the Leopoldstadter smiles afterwards. “Although everything went incredibly fast, I knew I was in the best hands,” Mama Eva praises her husband.
