One of the five Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament, the Greek Social Democrat Eva Kaili, is one of five arrested in Belgium in the context of an investigation into a possible case of corruption linked to efforts by Qatar, the host country of the Football World Cup, influence parliamentary position.
As reported today by the newspapers “Le Soir” and “Knack”, Kaili, who holds one of the fourteen vice-presidencies of the European Parliament, was arrested this Friday afternoon in connection with this case and his house has been searched by the judicial police.
