Major police operation on Monday morning in a school in Vienna’s Favoriten district: two strangers had gained unauthorized access to the building. The school janitor tried to get the two men to flee. A scuffle ensued. The school janitor was injured.
The incident happened around 4:15 am. The school janitor – he lives in the school’s official apartment – had noticed the two completely unknown people in the building. One of the two men immediately fled, the police reported Monday afternoon. Not so the second offender: There was a scuffle between him and the witness.

“The janitor of the school is said to have been injured with a sharp object on the buttocks,” police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger reported. The second attacker then fled, but it was initially unclear whether he was still hiding in the school. As a result, there was a large-scale police operation. Numerous officers combed the school grounds in search of the perpetrator. But the stranger was not found.
The school janitor was taken to hospital after first aid by the professional rescue service. The investigation is ongoing.
