Accident near Straden – vehicle took off: small truck driver injured

Following a small truck accident near Straden, a driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters before he could be taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

The devastating accident happened around noon on Monday in Karbach in the market town of Straden. A driver had left the L 233 with his small truck and was catapulted over a ramp due to the high speed. The vehicle then slid with the front frame into a deep ditch and landed on its roof.

A motorist following behind and local residents who had seen the accident set the rescue chain in motion. The 56-year-old driver from the Weiz district was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed from the vehicle by the fire brigade of Dirnbach and Hof with scissors and a spreader.

Only then could he be treated by the emergency doctor and the Red Cross. He was flown to hospital with unknown injuries.
