Smugglers at the airport – first drill led to hiding place of cocaine in suitcase

A cocaine courier at Vienna-Schwechat airport was arrested: the suspect, a 27-year-old Colombian, was caught by officials during a check. 2.8 kilos of cocaine was installed in his suitcase, street value: 400,000 euros.

The alleged smuggler was caught on October 2. The drugs were hidden in the trunk. According to the police, the drug was so cleverly installed that the suitcase had to be drilled open to get to the cocaine. The drugs were destined for the Austrian market.

The suspect had traveled to Austria via various South American countries and Qatar. For the successful smuggling, the 27-year-old, who according to the police partially confessed, should have received 3,000 euros. He was transferred to Korneuburg prison. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
