Whoever acts so shamelessly and without conscience must have an icy heart. An innkeeper from the district of Eferding, without her knowledge, made his kitchen help from Ukraine the boss and thus shifted his debts onto her.
As early as 2016, the woman worked for the landlord for a few weeks during the summer months. The restaurateur shamelessly took advantage of the fact that she barely spoke German. At the start of the employment relationship, he had the woman sign a number of – supposedly necessary – pieces of paper. In reality, he never registered her with Social Security. And on top of that, he gave her a business registration. Since then, the Ukrainian has been formally declared boss.
Facing electricity bill
After a few weeks, the temporary worker returned to her home country, and when she came back to Austria in 2018, she was in for a nasty surprise. Energie AG contacted the restaurant’s electricity bill and the Austrian health insurance fund also claimed overdue social security contributions from the other employees.
Local now closed
The Ukrainian turned to the Labor Chamber, the actual boss did not want to pay. The company registration has been declared invalid. The woman was refunded the ÖGK premiums already collected, as well as arrears of wages. The dispute lasted until this year, the owner is now bankrupt and the restaurant has closed.
