Tweet “Disgusting” – White House criticizes Musk after attack on Fauci

Date:

At the same time as the introduction of a new paid subscription to Twitter, the US government reacted indignantly to attacks by company boss Elon Musk on its corona top advisor Anthony Fauci. Musk’s call to indict Fauci is “incredibly dangerous,” said White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre.

Musk’s comments about his $44 billion online network are “disgusting and disconnected from reality,” said Jean-Pierre.

Musk called on Sunday for the indictment of Fauci, who has been advising the government since the start of the corona pandemic in the US in early 2020 and has been fiercely opposed by many right-wingers. There were several death threats against the 81-year-old. President Joe Biden’s top coronavirus adviser has announced he will retire this month.

New start for paid subscription
The government’s criticism of Musk coincided with the Twitter boss’s new push to launch a paid subscription for users. The Twitter Blue service was launched in the first countries on Monday. This prompts users to check out of their user account verification by the white checkmark in a blue circle.

The checkmark, which indicates that a user account has been verified by Twitter, was previously free and awarded to politicians, celebrities, journalists and organizations. In the future, a paid subscription will be a prerequisite for the coveted verification check mark on a user account.
