A Styrian woman was tied up and robbed in her own home on Tuesday night. After an hour and a half she managed to free herself with a pen.
The woman actually lives with her son in the beautiful single-family house on the Eichberg in the Graz suburb of Stattegg. Tuesday evening she was home alone. The four strangers should have known that – and also that there were some valuables in the house. At around 7:45 p.m., those in balaclavas burst into the house, overpowered the woman, and bound her hands and feet to a chair with zip ties and tape.
300 kilo safe broken open
Then they asked for the code to their safe. In shock, however, the victim could not remember. To get to the valuables, the perpetrators cut the safe out of the wall with an angle grinder and dragged the 300-kilogram item into a white van. They then searched the house for anything valuable and then drove off in the car through the city center.
Released with a ballpoint pen
The 55-year-old had to endure an hour and a half with the criminals. When they finally left, she managed to loosen her bonds with a pin. She then fled to a neighbor and from there alerted the police. The neighbor had also seen the white van, but thought nothing of it.
Physically, the Statteggerin remained unharmed, but the shock is of course deep. According to her, the perpetrators were dressed in black. Two were about six feet tall, one corpulent, the other slim. They spoke German with an Albanian accent. Because the woman has Albanian acquaintances, she could see that.
Possible clues are requested from the police: 059133/60-3333.
