A gift received by the head of the police station during a working visit to Ukraine exploded at the headquarters of the Polish police. Jaroslaw Szymczyk, the police chief, was slightly injured in the explosion and was taken to a hospital, according to the Ministry of the Interior in Warsaw.
A civilian employee was also slightly injured in the explosion, but did not require medical treatment. The explosion took place in a room next to Szymczyk’s office on Wednesday morning, according to the Interior Ministry. The reason was one of “the gifts the police commander received during his working visit to Ukraine on December 11 and 12 this year”.
There he met the leadership of the Ukrainian police and civil defense. Szymczyks received the gift, which exploded, from a head of a Ukrainian agency.
Prosecutors are already investigating
Poland has asked the Ukrainian side for an explanation of the incident. The prosecutor is investigating. In early December, a series of letter bombs made headlines in Spain possibly related to the conflict in Ukraine.
