After sharp criticism, the state of Carinthia withdraws the gender dictionary

Date:

The gender guidelines adopted by the state of Carinthia are 71 pages long. There was also a dictionary, the “Krone” reported on Wednesday. Politicians seemed unable to withstand the criticism: the dictionary was withdrawn on Thursday evening.

Instead of graduated, it means person with a degree. An author mutates into a literary person. Also in the future there will be no more bakers, only bakery specialists. Officials should use such new words in the future.

According to the Krone report, criticism for the corruption of the language was pouring in from all quarters. “The criticism mainly concerns the dictionary, which seems exaggerated in some passages,” admits Governor Peter Kaiser. On Thursday evening, the country entered the dictionary. According to governor Peter Kaiser and responsible provincial councilor Sara Schaar, it is time for a uniform regulation throughout Austria. The subject is too important to discuss polemically.

Uniform regulations needed
There are many different gender guidelines in Austria, some of which contain similar wording suggestions for internal use to those prepared by the specialized section in Carinthia. “Austria does not need nine or more different regulations. Now is the right time to draw up a uniform proposal for the whole of Austria that also takes into account the decision of the Constitutional Court,” expect Kaiser and Schaar of the federal government.
