A heavily pregnant cat in the winter? This is something rare. The fact that she was left in the forest in her condition angers the animal rights activists of Pfotenhilfe Lochen. But now “Emily” is in good hands.
A cat found in a wooded area in Ostermiething was recently taken to animal shelter Pfotenhilfe in Lochen. The zookeeper found the belly remarkably thick and therefore had an ultrasound done. Look at this: the cat is heavily pregnant. The paw aid christened her with the name “Emily”.
“We’ve never had a case like this,” says Pfotenhilfe boss Johanna Stadler. “Normally we get a lot of pregnant cats and abandoned kittens from spring to fall, but not in the winter. It’s really unbelievable that the mother-to-be was left in the woods just before Christmas in this cold weather.”
The chances of New Year’s babies are high
Emily can now give birth to her children at the animal shelter in warmth and safety and will continue to be cared for and medically checked over the coming holidays. The animal caretakers are already enthusiastic because, according to the vet, there is a good chance that they will be New Year’s Eve babies. “But despite all odds, you have to say that some people are getting rawer and colder. This comes to a head every year, especially before Christmas,” says Stadler.
