120 meters over the ramp – steering wheel (63) thrown out of the car in the crash – dead

Drama on Wednesday in Ellmau in the Tyrolean district of Kufstein! A local resident (63) drove his car off a forest road. The vehicle fell approximately 400 feet over a slope. All help came too late for the Tyrolean.

The drama happened between 4 and 4:30 pm. The 63-year-old drove his car in the municipality of Ellmau on a slippery, snowy forest road towards the valley. “He left the road and fell about 120 meters over steep, rocky terrain,” the police said.

Driver spotted 20 meters from vehicle
The Tyrolean was thrown from the car in the crash. It stopped about 20 meters above the vehicle. The car came to a stop through a tree. A local resident (33), who drove down the same street a little later, became aware of the accident. He immediately made an emergency call. However, the emergency doctor who arrived on scene was only able to determine the death of the 63-year-old.

A crisis intervention team took care of the next of kin. The vehicle involved in the accident and personal belongings were temporarily secured. The Scheffau mountain rescue service, the Ellmau volunteer fire brigade and the police came into action.
