Against the opposition of US President Joe Biden, the US Congress has canceled the corona vaccination requirement for the country’s armed forces. Republican lawmakers had previously threatened not to pass the defense budget.
Biden long opposed the abolition of mandatory vaccination, but in the end the Republicans won. According to the Pentagon, more than 8,000 soldiers have been fired from the armed forces so far because they were not vaccinated against Corona.
What happens now to fired opponents of vaccination?
The text now passed by the Senate leaves it to the Department of Defense to decide whether or not to reinstate anti-vaccine opponents expelled from the force. The Republicans had originally called for their automatic reinstatement, but were unable to get their way on this point.
