Shipment from Austria – waste shipment refused at the Romanian border

Date:

According to a report by the Romanian news agency Agerpress, the Romanian border police has refused three shipments of waste. One of them came from Austria, the other two from Italy and Germany.

Although it is emphasized that the driver from Romania did not have all the necessary documents with him, the dispute over the Schengen veto may also have played a role. Since the rejection of the extension of the Schengen area to Romania and Bulgaria, there has been diplomatic resentment between Vienna and Bucharest.

Only Friday evening it was announced that the Romanian ambassador Emil Hurezeanu would not soon return to his post in Vienna. According to Romanian media reports, Hurezeanu will not return until Vienna contacts Bucharest on the Schengen enlargement issue.

According to the agency report, the transport from Austria came from a trading company. According to the information, it contained 15 tons of garbage. This consisted of clothing and textile materials. The transport was stopped at the Hungarian-Romanian border near Nadlac.

Return shipments to countries of origin
The shipments from Italy and Germany amounted to a total of eleven tons and consisted of tires, furniture parts, solar panels and household appliances. The authorities ordered the waste to be returned to the three countries of origin.
