On the A2 between the Graz Ost interchange and the Feldkirchen exit near Graz, a serious traffic accident occurred on Monday afternoon between a truck with a trailer and two cars. The southern motorway was closed for an hour and a half in the direction of Graz.
For reasons that are still unclear, a truck from Croatia rammed a car from the Graz area on Monday afternoon on the A2 between the Graz Ost interchange and the Feldkirchen exit near Graz. A trailer from Hungary could no longer brake and collided with the truck. Fortunately, the occupants of the car from Styria were unharmed in the serious accident.
The Hungarian driver was seriously injured
The driver of the Hungarian vehicle was less fortunate. He was seriously injured in the accident and had to be freed from the wreckage by the fire service using hydraulic rescue equipment before he could be treated by the emergency doctor and then flown to hospital.
During the rescue operation and the clean-up work, the southern motorway towards Klagenfurt was closed for almost an hour and a half. The operation involved the fire brigades Raaba and Feldkirchen near Graz and the professional fire brigade Graz, the Red Cross, the ÖAMTC with the rescue helicopter Christophorus 12, the police and employees of ASFINAG.
