Victim (54) injured – hit with baseball bat in apartment robbery

Date:

A 54-year-old man was attacked and robbed last weekend in his apartment in St. Veit ad Gölsen (Lower Austria). According to the police, the suspect is a 37-year-old on Monday. The Lower Austrian fled with the victim’s mobile phone and car key, but was caught a short time later. The man has confessed and is reported to the St. Pölten public prosecutor’s office. The injured 54-year-old received outpatient treatment at Lilienfeld State Clinic.

The 37-year-old entered the apartment around 5 a.m. on Saturday. According to the police, the suspect demanded a four-figure sum of money for clean-up work that the 54-year-old had ordered but had not yet carried out. Furthermore, the uninvited guest demanded the car of the later victim as a deposit. As if that weren’t enough, the 37-year-old allegedly threatened his opponent with a gun and injured him by hitting him with a baseball bat. Parts of the apartment have been destroyed.

Positive alcohol test
About an hour after the Lower Austrian escaped, the 54-year-old called the police. The 37-year-old was apprehended in his car on the B18 in St. Veit ad Gölsen around 9 a.m. as part of a manhunt. An alcohol test on the driver was positive.

More weapons discovered
The alarm gun and baseball bat were seized at the suspect’s home address. A small bore rifle and an air rifle were also found. A provisional arms ban and an entry and approach ban have been issued against the 37-year-old.
