According to the Grazer fire brigade, it was not the large cinema complex that had to be evacuated, only the area around the kitchen of a restaurant. Fat had probably started burning in a pan there, the fire spread through the exhaust fan and caused heavy smoke development in both the restaurant and on the roof of the facility.

According to initial information, the innkeeper tried to control the flames himself and suffered injuries to both hands. The man was treated by the Red Cross.
The professional fire brigade of Graz advanced with a respiratory protection team that extinguished the inside, a second team got a check on the roof. The ventilation system also had to be partially dismantled.
The Grazer Florianis were in action for about an hour with five vehicles and 23 men. The damage can amount to thousands of euros.
