This suspect obviously did not lack drive, but his behavior was unfortunately of a criminal nature. In less than three months, a 38-year-old man from Vienna allegedly committed burglaries in the federal capital and in Lower Austria – he struck more than 100 times.
Traces left by the perpetrator during a burglary at the beginning of November in a house in Hautzendorf led to the suspect from the Vienna district of Margareten. On January 19, with the cooperation of WEGA, the man’s apartment was searched, which revealed an enormous amount of stolen goods. And this couldn’t just be from the crime scene in Hautzendorf. The 38-year-old has been arrested, police said. He confessed that he had already sold part of the loot.
However, in the course of the investigation, the true extent of the suspect’s actions came to light. The suspect could be assigned “a total of 102 break-ins into basement compartments at ten crime scenes in Vienna and the crime scene in Hautzendorf” according to the executive – crime period: from October 26 of the previous year to January 15, 2023 .
However, that could not be all, because some of the stolen goods could not be assigned to crime scenes, the investigation is still ongoing, it was said. The total damage so far amounts to around 45,500 euros. The Viennese is in custody.
