Fire alarm on Christmas Day in the early morning hours in Axams in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land: Shortly after departure, a bus suddenly caught fire. Fortunately no one was injured. There were no passengers on the bus at the time.
The fire brigade of Axams and Grinzens was alerted to the vehicle fire around 06:00. Shortly after the bus driver drove off, he suddenly noticed heavy smoke in the back of the vehicle. “The driver immediately made an emergency call,” says police spokesman Stefan Eder when asked by “Krone”.
No passengers on the bus
The bus then caught fire and was completely engulfed within a very short time. The driver was not injured. There were no passengers on the bus yet.
The bus eventually burned out completely. The cause of the fire may have been a technical defect. Dozens of multi-vehicle Florianis were deployed.
