18-year-old Brit Charlie Everett admits she’s afraid to see or touch ketchup, but it’s a complex task for her as she works as a waitress in a pub. In one incident, she burst into tears (see video above).
According to Everett, he has no idea where the phobia of ketchup comes from. “I’ve been afraid of it for as long as I can remember. I can’t be near a bottle. It feels weird. I often have to leave the room when someone eats ketchup.”
The Briton admitted she’s never tried the famous sauce, but says she “never will” as the smell alone is enough to put her off.
Boss had to comfort her after an “accident” with ketchup.
Everett works in a London pub and has problems when customers ask for ketchup with their food. In one incident, she burst into tears after spilling a bowl of ketchup on her shoes – resulting in her boss having to comfort her.

“My mom is a big ketchup fan. If she leaves it on the plate before washing up, it drives me crazy. That’s pretty wild. And even when I’m in the supermarket, I try to avoid the ketchup aisle.”
The 18-year-old shared a video about her phobia on social media to mixed reactions. Some completely agreed with her, while others thought her phobia was “insane.”
Friends played tricks on her
After seeing her video on TikTok, one of her friends took the opportunity to prank her when they went out for dinner. “One of my friends started putting ketchup near me. I got really mad at him and started yelling at him in the restaurant.”
Not her only phobia
Her ketchup phobia isn’t her only fear. She also suffers from emetophobia – a phobia of vomiting. “If I was around people throwing up, I would collapse.”
