Not only will the Christmas holidays remain too warm this year, also the days after and, according to a cautious forecast, probably also on New Year’s Eve and around the turn of the year, it will remain much too mild for the time of year. The thermometer mark will rise to 14 degrees in the coming days.
Ben Assembly, the Stefanitag, there is initially some ground and high fog fields over the lowlands of the north, east and southeast. These often dissolve during the day, but then more and more clouds become visible. Towards evening it starts to rain from Vorarlberg to the west of Upper Austria. In the morning the temperatures vary from minus five to plus six degrees, during the day depending on the fog, sun and wind four to 14 degrees.
Ben Tuesday clouds and sun alternate until late in the morning. Especially along the northern side of the Alps and in the far north, some snow and rain showers are still falling. From the afternoon the sun will increasingly gain the upper hand, only in the west will cloud fields appear again in the afternoon. The wind is blowing weak to moderate, also quite strong in the east, from west to north. The early temperatures are between minus two and plus seven degrees, the afternoon temperatures between three and eleven degrees.
Ben Wednesday mostly calm and friendly weather can be expected with a high level westerly current and high pressure near the ground. The sun is shining in many places, but there are also some dense fog patches, especially in the southern basins. During the course of the day, some heavier cloud fields will also occur from the west, but there will be no precipitation. From minus seven to plus one degree in the morning, temperatures rise to between one and nine degrees.
Ben Thursday the high-level flow from west to southwest continues to direct mild air masses towards Austria. Fog fields along the Danube, in Alpine valleys and in southern basins are likely to disappear soon, otherwise the sunshine will alternate with mostly thin cloud fields. A cold front will approach from the west in the afternoon and the first showers may fall in Vorarlberg by evening. The wind is mainly weak to moderate from south to west. The morning temperatures are between minus four and plus five degrees, the maximum daytime temperatures between four and twelve degrees.
Ben Freitag touches a fault line on the northern side of the Alps. It brings denser clouds with occasional rain, especially in the west and north. However, the weather usually calms down by noon, when the sun predominates, as before in the other parts of the country. With the disturbance there are intermittent westerly winds. Later, a slightly blowing southerly current sets in in the west. The lowest temperatures remain at minus to plus four degrees, during the day the values often rise to five to ten degrees.
From the current perspective, there should be no change in the weather around the turn of the year. On New Year’s Eve and also New Year’s Day, the thermometer mark is likely to climb into the double-digit plus range in some places.
