Underwater – bus crashed into river in Spain: at least 5 dead

At least five people have been killed in a bus accident in Galicia, Spain. Two other people were still missing on Sunday. The bus fell off a bridge into the river near the town of Pedre late Saturday night.

He was traveling with nine persons on the provincial road N-541 from Vigo to Lugo when the accident happened at about 9.30 pm. At least five people died, the driver and a passenger were rescued alive. Two more people were missing on Sunday.

Difficult to reach place
They are intensively searched for in the river. Because the bus was in a hard-to-reach place after the fall and was almost completely submerged, the rescue and salvage work was difficult. The rescue teams rappel down the bridge to get to the vehicle. On Sunday, the operation remains hampered by the strong current and the bad weather with a lot of rain.

The bodies have since been recovered. The Spanish emergency service has not yet provided information on the identity of the fatalities. It is also unclear why the bus fell into the river.
