An incredibly tragic winter sports accident took place in Tyrol’s Zillertal on Christmas Day: a 12-year-old holiday girl went off the slopes while skiing and crashed into a tree. The injuries were eventually so serious that the child died in the Innsbruck clinic.
The terrible accident happened around 4 p.m. – shortly before closing time. The twelve-year-old holiday girl from the Netherlands was skiing on the valley run in the Spieljoch ski area in Fügen when she lost her balance at a fork in the slope due to a driving error.
The witness to the accident made an emergency call
The child eventually went over the edge of the runway and crashed into a tree with full force. A witness saw the devastating accident and immediately called 911.
Doctors could do nothing more
The 12-year-old was then given first aid at the scene and then flown by emergency helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck. Unfortunately, the doctors could do nothing more. There the holiday girl succumbed to his serious injuries.
