During the Advent weekends and in the run-up to Christmas, the Viennese police are increasingly checking parked cars again. The ÖAMTC now warns that illegal parking can cost more than 726 euros – for example if the car is parked in a disabled parking space or a bus parking space.
According to the ÖAMTC, towing alone costs 301 euros. In addition, there is the fee for parking the vehicle in the parking lot at MA 48 in Simmering of eleven euros per day, as well as the fine for parking that hinders traffic. This is between 36 and 108 euros, and for serious violations such as parking in disabled parking spaces, up to 726 euros is possible.
Cars parked in the second lane, in disabled parking spaces, on the street or at bus stops, in front of the entrance to houses or in taxi zones are at particular risk of being towed. In addition, according to the ÖAMTC, there is rigorous towing on arterial roads such as the Belt.
Caution should also be taken when parking in local areas. In districts 1-4, 6-9, 12, 15 and 20, in addition to the short-term parking zones, there are local parking spaces that cost 36 euros. The ÖAMTC recommends finding out more in advance. Parking options could be viewed online.
