Dangerous incident in Steyregg in Upper Austria: On Christmas Day, a large ash tree suddenly fell and fell on a house and a power line. The Schweinbach fire brigade’s height rescuers needed hours to solve the problem.
A fright for a family in Windegg in Steyregg municipality. Shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday, it suddenly made a noise. When the family went looking for the cause, they discovered that an ash had fallen on the house and a power line. The family informed the fire brigade in Steyregg, who in turn alerted the high-altitude rescue workers of the Schweinbach fire brigade.
The operation took several hours
“It is not yet possible to say why the es fell over,” says chief of operations, section fire chief Christian Breuer, who immediately had the power switched off for work on the roof. Then the rescuers were deployed. It took more than four hours before the tree was cut down and the roof was covered with a makeshift tarpaulin.
25 people from the Steyregg volunteer fire brigade attended and eight rescuers were deployed from the base in Schweinbach. The work could not be completed until it was dark at 6 p.m.
