A fully loaded vehicle left a forest road in Styria on Tuesday night and fell 70 meters from a steep embankment. The four occupants suffered some serious injuries.
The group from the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district drove from the Turnauer Alm towards Greith around 10:30 p.m. The icy conditions likely caused the currently unknown driver of the vehicle to veer off the forest road.
70 meters fell
All occupants of the vehicle crashed over a steep forest. The car overturned several times. Emergency services (fire brigade, ambulance, mountain rescue service and police) tried to reach the scene of the accident. Access was extremely difficult due to the icy road conditions.
A seriously injured man (75) had to be transported by rescue helicopter to the LKH Bruck an der Mur. The others involved were able to receive first aid from the rescue service and were also transported to the hospital in Bruck an der Mur. They may have broken bones and cuts.
Investigation into the cause of the accident
The Thörl police inspectorate is currently investigating the cause of the accident. This also includes identifying the driver of the accident.
