The average price of electricity in the wholesale market is falling for the sixth time in a row, according to preliminary data from the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE).
In concrete terms, the price of electricity on April 18 will be 103.24 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), 7.28% less than on Sunday. For example, this Monday’s price will be the lowest since December 27, 2021, the day on which 96.08 euros/MWh was paid.
The maximum electricity price for April 18 will be between 21:00 and 22:00, with 219.69 euros/MWh, and the minimum, 45 euros/MWh, will be registered between 14:00 and 15:00.
The National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) has determined that by 2021, as part of the upward energy spiral, approximately 1.25 million people have switched from the PVPC to a fixed-price free market tariff.
