Train station attack – Israeli woman stabbed in Rome: perpetrators caught

The man who seriously stabbed an Israeli citizen at Termini station in Rome on the evening of December 31 has been arrested. The 25-year-old Pole, who is said to have a mental disorder, lived for months as a homeless person in the Italian capital.

The 25-year-old was arrested near Milan train station on Tuesday evening. He was recognized by an off-duty Carabinieri officer as he attempted to board a train to Brescia.

On New Year’s Eve, the young Pole stabbed his victim in front of a ticket machine with three knife wounds in quick succession. His identification was made possible by reviewing surveillance videos inside and outside the station. The whole of Italy was wanted for the Pole.

The health of the young Israeli is stable, Italian media report. She had to have surgery afterwards.
