First, a 30-year-old driver drove his car on a bike path in Schwanenstadt in Upper Austria on Friday morning. When he turned around, he slipped on the narrow path and fell backwards over a fifteen-foot embankment into a river.
The 30-year-old from Timelkam drove his car in the Schwanenstadt area shortly before 07:00 on Friday and, for unknown reasons, turned left at Neudorf onto the cycle path towards Lambach. After about 300 meters, the driver wanted to turn his vehicle on the narrow cycle path and his car slid backwards over a five-metre high embankment and came to rest with the rear in the river Ager.
Driver was unharmed
The salvage of the vehicle proved to be very difficult due to the impassable terrain, but the fire service was able to carry it out. The driver was unharmed, an alcohol test showed a value of 1.8 promille, therefore his driver’s license was taken away – it will be displayed.
