A large number of emergency services were deployed on Wednesday evening in a search for a missing elderly man in Altmünster (Upper Austria). But it ended tragically: after two and a half hours, the 83-year-old was found drowned.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Gmunden police received a message that the 83-year-old was missing. The man has not been found since 6 p.m. The missing person had left his home address on foot. A large-scale search was launched with fire brigades, rescue dogs and police helicopters. The search was expanded with 70 ground troops from the Altmünster, Eben-Nachdemsee, Neukirchen, Reindlmühl and Traunkirchen fire brigades, eight dog handlers from the rescue dog brigade and the Red Cross and three drone operators from the Red Cross.
Unfortunately, help came too late
