thousands of flights during United States should have been suspended temporarily or permanently this Wednesday morning following a computer glitch in the country’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) system.
All planes had to stay that way on the land until further notice, although authorities have confirmed they are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
The FAA itself has indicated in a statement that its Air Mission Alert (NOTAM) has “failed” all morning. This is a warning that contains essential information for the employees operating the flights. “Operations inside all airspace have been affected,” the FAA stressed.
Authorities estimate that more than 1,200 flights were affected and delayed in many parts of the country, while 100 flights were immediately canceled, sparking controversy among passengers, according to the NBC News television network.
