For throwing eggs at King Charles III. a young Briton has to pay a fine of 100 pounds (113 euros). A London court also ordered the 21-year-old to pay £85 in court costs on Friday, Sky News reported. He had previously admitted to throwing an egg at the monarch in the north London town of Luton on December 6.
He explained that he was protesting the King’s visit, which he found unpleasant in an underprivileged and impoverished area like Luton. His lawyer said the man regretted the crime.
Not hit
Charles was not hit in the incident. Security forces first took him away from the spectators who had been waiting for the king. But soon after, Charles continued his dive into the crowd.
A 23-year-old will stand trial in the northern English city of York this Friday for a similar crime. He allegedly threw a total of four eggs at Charles and his wife Camilla in November, but none of them hit. The young man was released on the condition that he was not allowed to carry eggs in public except after shopping.
