Days after the horrific bloody act in Berndorf in Lower Austria, more details about the deadly family feud came to light. As reported, a 57-year-old attacked his two older sisters with a knife during an argument. One woman died, the second was seriously injured. The man then committed suicide. The siblings were covered in blood at the entrance of the house when emergency services arrived.
The heated discussion, which presumably also involved the inheritance, ignited in the property’s driveway on Friday afternoon – and would escalate completely at around 5:15 p.m. The younger brother attacked his two sisters aged 58 and 59 with a knife, one suffered such severe stab wounds that she died, the second collapsed badly injured in the driveway. The alleged perpetrator then apparently grabbed the gun and killed himself.
Condition critical but stable
Moments later, emergency services arrived on the scene and found the siblings in the driveway. The 58-year-old was able to give the police information about what was going on before she was taken to the hospital in Wiener Neustadt. The woman is still in a critical but stable condition, police spokesman Johann Baumschlager said on Saturday when asked by APA.
The investigation by the criminal investigation department of the state of Lower Austria is still ongoing. Investigations and environmental investigations were planned, among other things. The results are expected early next week.
