The Euskal Herria Pensioners Movement will carry out activities today in the different cities of Euskadi and Navarra every fifth birthday of their mobilizations, which they intend to maintain because they have “strength to keep fighting”.

The collective began meeting every Monday on January 15, 2018, as stated in its manifesto for its fifth anniversary, “after many years of mistreating pensioners” and has gathered “thousands and thousands” of people for their protests in various locations over these years .

The Retirement Movement celebrate “what has been achieved” in these five years include “withdrawing the IRP (of 0.25) from the 2013 PP reform, demonstrating that the public pension system is perfectly viable, withdrawing the sustainability factor and preventing new decisions that wanted to cut pensions in half “.

“In fact, the 8.5% update they’re going to give us this year, while it doesn’t restore what was lost, can only be explained by the struggles we continue to fight,” they appreciate.

However, they emphasize that there is still “a thousand reasons to keep fighting”.

Among those claims is one minimum pension of 1080 eurosthat the gender gap “disappears” and puts an end to various “negative aspects” that the various reforms brought.

The pensioners will commemorate these five years of mobilizations with various activities in the town squares in a festive atmosphere, under the motto ‘Borrokak darrai, the battle continues’, a party during which they have encouraged “everyone” and especially the pensioners.
