They have opened packages and kept several items: When transporting returns, two Croatian drivers (38, 44) should be in Styria since September 2022. The two men revealed one thing they had in common.
Although they returned the packages, several customers were surprised to receive such a message: Your goods have not arrived, so the money will not be credited to you. After cases increased since September 2022, a trader filed a report with the police.
It was noticeable that all parcels had passed through the same distribution center in Kalsdorf near Graz. The police inspectorate working there took over the investigation, which led to two Croatian men (38, 44) – both professional drivers responsible for return transport.
Packaged goods found during house search
On Friday, the agents then conducted searches in the second homes of the men in Graz. In the one-room apartments they found shoes, clothes and electronics. Some of these were still unused or packaged. The urgent suspicion arose that the goods were stolen goods.
The suspects, on the other hand, claimed to have obtained everything legally. However, they could not present any evidence to prove this. The goods were therefore provisionally seized.
Police expect more cases
Other possible thefts cannot be ruled out. Due to the delayed returns, the cases have not yet been reported. Therefore, follow-up studies are taking place.
The men are free. After completion of the investigation, a report is made to the public prosecutor’s office in Graz on suspicion of several criminal offences. The extent of the damage has not yet been determined.
