He Euskal Herria Pensioners Movement He asked on Thursday whether he would go to the polls next Sunday, election day, recalling which parties have supported his demands in the Basque parliament since mobilizations to demand decent pensions began six years ago.
Hundreds of people have demonstrated in Vitoria-Gasteiz to demand that the parties participating in the elections put the demands of pensioners at the center of their agenda.

The spokesperson of this movement, Iñaki Martinhas pointed out that the only political formations that have reiterated their demands and supported various parliamentary initiatives are “EH Bildu and Elkarrekin Podemos.”
Martín recalled that in Euskadi there are 165,000 pensioners who earn below the limit 1080 euros monthly, of which approximately 111,000 are women.
Although they have so far demanded that minimum amount of 1080 euros, from now on they will demand that the minimum pensions be increased to the amount of the Minimum professional salary (SMI)that is currently 1134 euros in 14 payments.
Martín has assured that although pensions depend on the central administration, the Basque Parliament has the power to supplement them through the Income Guarantee Income (RGI) or regional regulations.
The pensioners’ movement, it has announced, is preparing Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) with their requests that will be submitted in the new parliamentary term that will start when the Vitoria-Gasteiz Parliament is constituted after the election appointment.
