A drifting maneuver under the influence of alcohol ended for a novice driver with the surrender of the “driver’s license”: On Sunday night, a 17-year-old crashed his car into a tree on the central square in Bärnbach in Styria. The young man was drunk at the time of the accident.
The boy from the Voitsberg district drove his car into the town of Bärnbach around 00:14 am. According to eyewitnesses, the 17-year-old was driving at excessive speed and attracted attention with his risky driving maneuvers – the driver kept drifting with the car. However, the trip ended on the central square in Bärnbach.

The driver lost control and crashed into a tree. Officers from the Voitsberg Police Inspectorate met the shocked but unharmed 17-year-old at the scene of the accident. A breathalyzer test was positive. The boy is reported and has to hand in his driver’s license again after a short time.
The Bärnbach volunteer fire brigade recovered the vehicle, which was a total loss.
