T. threatens to order a maximum of 24 years in prison in Budapest. With the hunger strike, T. wanted to achieve better detention conditions and a retreat in Germany.
Recently, the German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul had promised to work for better detention conditions for Maja T. in discussions with the government in Budapest. T. is “exposed to the most serious allegations,” the minister told the editorial network of Germany (RND). “In Germany, Maja T. should therefore expect criminal proceedings,” he added.
Doctors feared organ damage from Maja T.
According to her supporters, T. lost about 14 kilograms due to the hunger strike. The heartbeat had temporarily fallen to 30. The doctors would faint for the arrest of the heart and feared irreversible organ damage.
On July 1, T. was brought from pre -trial detention in Budapest to a prison hospital in the southeast of the country. Maja T. had complained about, among other things, the isolation in a cell, as well as a lack of sleep due to checks per hour.
T. was arrested in Berlin in December 2023 and was delivered to Hungary in June 2024 – although the federal constitutional court in Germany forbade this. But Karlsruhe’s decision was a few minutes late.
