An extremely unusual theft occurred over the weekend in Rockford, Illinois: Unidentified individuals stole a hearse. There was another body in the vehicle. After hours of anguish for the relatives, both the car and the body were found in two different places
Police said the theft took place outside the Collins & Stone Funeral Home on Saturday. The vehicle resurfaced in Chicago on Sunday evening, but much to the shock of the deceased’s family, the body was no longer in the hold. It wasn’t until Monday afternoon that she could finally breathe a sigh of relief: the stolen body was finally found in another place in the city – four kilometers from where the hearse was found.
Police have now identified a suspect. She has released photos of an as yet unidentified man dressed in black and wearing white gloves. She asked for clues about the alleged thief. The man is wanted for stealing a car and disturbing the peace of the dead. It is still unclear whether the perpetrator knew there was a body in the vehicle when he stole it.
