“It’s frightening” – Another series of fires in Vienna: residents in fear

Date:

After the series of fires that terrified the residents of the residential complex on Weense Rennbahnweg in Donaustadt in the weeks around the turn of the year, several fires in the Großfeldsiedlung are now worrying the residents.

As reported, Keller had been targeted by a hitherto unknown person on Rennbahnweg. A total of nine fires were set in four nights in December and January. The professional fire brigade in Vienna was always on site quickly and was able to extinguish the fires, fortunately there were no injuries to report.

The investigations are still ongoing
Since a fire on the night of January 2, peace has apparently (temporarily) returned to the Rennbahnweg. The investigation into the series of fires is still ongoing. However, there is currently no trace or indication of the possible perpetrator, the Vienna police said when asked. However, a concerned resident and “Krone” reader now reports an unusual accumulation of firefighting operations in the Großfeldsiedlung in the Floridsdorf district.

“It is frightening. After burning for days on the Rennbahnweg, it is already burning for the third time in the Großfeldsiedlung within ten days,” she told the “Krone” with concern. Fire spokesman Jürgen Figerl also confirms three missions in the recent past. On 13, 15 and 24 January they were at the fire brigade. “We worked half an hour each of these three days. There were islands of waste on fire,’ says Figerl.

There was no danger to local residents because the fires are outside, “but of course there was material damage”.
