100 tons of radioactive nuclear waste accumulates every year in Czech nuclear power plants! This should be stored close to the border!
“The Czech Republic is in a dilemma because of its nuclear power plants! Because the heaps of highly radioactive nuclear waste are constantly growing. However, the exciting issue of deletion can no longer be postponed due to EU regulations,” suggests Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Doppler of the anti-nuclear committee in Freistadt (Upper Austria) raised the alarm.
Repository threatens Austria
The basis of his concerns: Brussels has stipulated that the states that operate nuclear reactors must have their storage facilities operational by the year 2050! We’re looking for a geological formation that’s stable for about a million years. Under this time pressure, Prague is therefore feeding the final disposal through a legislative decree. But that threatens Austria! Because one of the deposits is particularly dangerous for us: Janoch at the Temelín scrap reactor is only 48 kilometers from the red-white-red border.
The Vice President of Lower Austria, Stefan Pernkopf, has been protesting this for some time. GLOBAL 2000 activist Dr. Reinhard Uhrig: “Now the government must also act!” More than 20,000 signatures have already been handed over to Minister Leonore Gewessler!
