The body of one of the two pilots has been recovered after a Greek fighter jet crashed over the Ionian Sea on Monday. The accident happened when the F-4 Phantom 2 jet was flying low near the Peloponnese peninsula.
As reported by Greek state radio, the pilots of another Greek airliner saw the plane crash on Monday. The hope of getting the co-pilot back alive is extremely slim.
The accident has not been linked to tensions between Greece and Turkey from Athens Ministry of Defense circles. NATO countries have been fighting for decades over sovereign rights in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean.
