Spectacular accident Monday evening in the Tyrolean Unterland: A German (22) drove her car into the oncoming lane in the Kirchberg bypass tunnel (Kitzbühel district) and collided there with the oncoming car of a 61-year-old. The force of the collision overturned a car and the young woman had to be taken to hospital with injuries.
The accident happened just before 7:30 p.m. The young German was driving her car on the B170 Brixentalstraße towards Kitzbühel when she made a slight right turn at the bypass tunnel and then entered the oncoming lane.
22-year-old taken to hospital with rescue
There she eventually collided with the car of the 61-year-old resident. The woman suffered serious injuries in the accident and was transported by ambulance to the St. Johann district hospital after first aid.
Road closed for an hour and a half
In the tunnel, a vehicle came to rest on its side. Both cars are believed to be a total loss. The B170 was closed to all traffic in the vicinity of the accident site until about 9 p.m. In addition to the police and ambulance, the fire brigade was also present.
