After the federal government set the timetable for the end of the corona measures in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, the mask obligation in Austrian hospitals and nursing homes is also falling.
As of April 30, wearing an FFP2 mask in vulnerable areas will be phased out, as will the exemption of risk groups. The expiration of the measures is justified with the current situation.
“Normal operation” from June 30
“The high level of immunity of the population and the availability of COVID-19 drugs make this step possible,” Health Minister Johannes Rauch stressed on Wednesday. Austria should return to “normal operation” from June 30.
At the end of December last year, the 3G rule fell in hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes and other healthcare institutions. Only Vienna always followed a stricter course in this regard. Until now, at least an FFP2 mask had to be worn in these areas.
No more to report
All corona crisis management teams and committees will also be dissolved. As of June 30, SARS-CoV-2 is no longer a notifiable disease. This also ends the current traffic restrictions for people who have tested positive. Although infected people do not currently have to be quarantined, they are required to wear an FFP2 mask indoors.
