Several Viennese schools in Penzing and Ottakring report two child abduction attempts. The police confirmed the incident.
Friday morning. Hundreds of parents have breakfast with their loved ones. The mobile phone displays a new message. Several schools around the Flötzersteig in Penzing send out warnings: the day before, one or more strangers had tried to kidnap schoolchildren twice. One of parents’ biggest fears takes on a frighteningly real breeding ground.
Reports from multiple schools
One of the messages sent reads: “At 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, I was informed by a parent that at the bridge over the Flötzersteig (end of Steinbruchstraße) a person in a van had attempted to take two children to the invite boarding. The children immediately ran away, the police were immediately notified and tried to find the person. In the late afternoon, a second incident was observed on the side of the subway.” In both cases, the children managed to escape.
be careful
The educators advise caution and parents to have informative conversations with the children. In another letter, parents were asked to pick up their children in person. Now that the semester break has arrived, these warnings should not be taken lightly.
