Brave passers-by – passed out woman rescued from incoming train

A dramatic incident took place at the Steinach am Brenner train station in Tyrol on Thursday. A young woman fell unconscious on the rails. A policewoman and a policeman and passers-by became life-saving.

A police officer and a police officer from the Steinach Police Inspectorate, who were at the local train station around 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, saw a 20-year-old woman approaching the edge of the platform as a regional train approached and suddenly fell head over heels about a meter the track bed and lay there unconscious.

The officers immediately ran towards the woman, the officer jumped – together with a passer-by – onto the railway bed. Together they lifted the unconscious woman and handed her over to the policewoman on the platform. She received support from other passers-by and pulled the woman onto the platform. At the same time, the driver of the approaching train was able to apply emergency braking in time. The S-Bahn stopped about five meters from the scene of the accident.

All involved were unharmed
Everyone involved in the dramatic incident was unharmed. The 20-year-old resident said she passed out due to circulatory problems. So she fell on the job. She was taken to Hallenziekenhuis for further examination.
