Five men each took a maximum of two minutes to break into three electronics stores in Lower Austria and Vienna. They stole hundreds of mobile phones worth 200,000 euros and left behind a trail of destruction. The quintet could be traced.
Major investigative success for detectives and their colleagues from Vienna: they were able to put an end to five Romanians who made a lot of booty in three lightning burglaries at Media Markt locations in Vösendorf and Vienna. The men, aged between 34 and 37, stole several hundred mobile phones with a total value of 207,000 euros in two minutes and left a trail of destruction behind.
Escape in a taxi
Shortly after the third burglary, they managed to catch two perpetrators. Another two fled in a car that had just been stolen in Vienna and then got into a taxi driven by a compatriot (36). The handcuffs clicked a little later in Vienna’s 10th district, as did the fifth, who was later arrested in Romania and recently extradited to Austria.
Many stolen goods found
House searches not only found mobile phones, but also the loot from other thefts, including clothing worth around 10,000 euros. The men are in prison in Wiener Neustadt and some have confessed. The woman has filed a report.
