Smoke inhaled – 13-year-old rescued dog from burning garage

Date:

A 13-year-old boy was injured late Tuesday night in Hard am Bodensee when he rescued the family’s dog from a burning garage. According to police, he suffered severe burns to his hands and suffered light smoke inhalation.

13-year-old Armando Omerovic was very lucky in Hard on Tuesday evening. His love for his dog Akira made him forget all dangers, because before the emergency services arrived he saved his American Pocket Bully from the flames of a burning garage. The animal was housed in a kennel in the solid building next to an apartment building.

“I happened to be outside because I was waiting for my cousin,” says the 13-year-old. Suddenly he smelled smoke and went looking for the cause. When he saw it coming out of the garage, he ran to the door in a fright.

“Inside all I saw was fire and smoke.” He then immediately tried to save his dog. “I opened the kennel door and put my hand through. It was hot everywhere.” In the end, he managed to get Akira out of the inferno – much to his delight without any injuries.

However, during the rescue operation, he suffered severe burns on one hand and suffered light smoke inhalation. The rescue therefore brought the teenager to the LKH Bregenz.

The fire in Rheinstrasse broke out around 10:45 p.m. Within a short time, the garage was ablaze. The adjoining house was evacuated. The fire service first tried to extinguish the flames from the outside with heavy respiratory protection equipment. “Brand out” succeeded only after the Floriani disciples gained entry through the garage door.

Dangerous extinguishing action
Police evacuated the residential building next to the garage. The firefighters, who arrived a few minutes after the alarm, first tried to extinguish the flames from the outside with heavy respiratory protection equipment. However, the “fire out” succeeded only after the Floriani disciples gained access to the solid building through the garage door.

investigations are underway
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear. The police are currently investigating. On Wednesday, officials from the fire investigation department of the National Investigation Department will receive an overview of the situation at the scene of the fire.
