“I’d be lying if I said it’s easy”

Date:

Sandra Stroj (47) is a scientist in heart and soul. On the International Day of Women in Science, she tells the “Krone” what it’s like to assert yourself as a woman with a family in a male-dominated field.

“crown”: Ms. Stroj, you are successful in science. What is your research focus?
Sandra Stroj:
My focus is on laser ablation with the ultrashort pulse laser. It emits flashes of light that are so extremely short that we can’t really imagine them. You can process surfaces, small micro-components and various structures very precisely with it that would otherwise not be possible to process with a laser. Our research results are used in medicine or in storage processes.
