Traffic accident Tuesday morning in Vienna’s early morning traffic: a car collided with a police car on the Gurtel. The impact was so severe that the patrol car’s airbags inflated. A police officer was injured.
The accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Mariahilfer Gurtel near Gumpendorferstrasse. According to a “Krone” reader, reporter and eyewitnesses, the emergency vehicle crossed the street from Gumpendorferstraße and wanted to continue in the direction of the Outer Belt. The accident happened in the middle of the street.
The police car was badly damaged, the airbags had deployed in the accident. The Viennese police confirmed the crash upon request.
“A police officer was slightly injured in the accident,” said police spokesman Philipp Hasslinger when asked. The exact course of the accident is under investigation by the traffic accident command.
